Investigation of Moderator Role of Psychological Resilience on the Relationship Between Social media use and Depression
The aim of this research is to examine the effect of social media use and resilience on depression. In addition, the moderator role of individuals' resilience levels in the relationship between their social media use and depression was examined.
The original value of this project has been the use of social media, resilience and depression to be handled together.
Research Question 1: Is there a relationship between social media use and depression?
Hypothesis 1: Those with high social media use also have high depression levels.
Research Question 2: Is there a relationship between resilience and social media use?
Hypothesis 2: Individuals with high psychological resilience use less social media.
In this project, the relationship between the use of social media and depression levels of individuals between the ages of 18-25 was examined in terms of their resilience. According to the findings obtained from the research, the results were collected under three main headings: (1) the relationship between social media use and depression, (2) the relationship between psychological resilience and social media use, (3) the relationship between social media use and depression on the psychological resilience of individuals. whether or not it differs.
Social media use scale, back depression inventory and resilience scale for adults were used in this research.
In response to the last question of this research, whether the relationship between social media use and depression differs according to the psychological resilience of individuals, as a result of the analyzes made, we determined that the relationship between social media use and depression will not be affected by psychological resilience.
Outputs:
The relationship between individuals' social media use and depression does not differ according to individuals' psychological resilience. Therefore, regardless of the psychological resilience of individuals, their proneness to depression and anxiety levels should be examined.
