Development of Comparative Scale of Meaningfulness for Remote Working

During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has embedded itself into the life of many people. This study aims to develop a scale that measures the meaningful job perceptions of individuals who work remotely in comparison with the physical work environment.  For this study, quantitative research methods and criterion sampling techniques were used to collect data from 251 participants. Comparative Scale of Meaningfulness for Remote Working (CSMRW) was developed to measure the meaningful work perceptions of people working remotely in three dimensions which are meaningful work, transcendency, resourcefulness. Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) was used for validation. However, there was a nonsignificant correlation between CSMRW and UWES.

Keywords: meaningful work, work engagement, remote work
